{ Cast & Crew: Laurie Main }

Laurence "Laurie" Main (November 29, 1929 - February 8, 2012) is an English actor born in London, England. Main began working in the acting field as early as the nineteen fifties, appearing in such shows as "The Adventures of Robin Hood" and "The New Adventures of Charlie Chan." The sixties decade was a busy one for Main when he continued to appear in dozens of memorable shows including, "Alfred Hitchcock Presents," "Maverick," "I Spy," "Get Smart," and "The Andy Griffith Show." The big screen was no stranger to Main after he landed roles in The Phantom of the Opera (1962 starring Herbert Lom), My Fair Lady (1963), and On a Clear Day You Can See Forever (1970). The charming actor soon found his way to Walt Disney's studios where he became even more frequent in films including The Strongest Man in the World(1975), Freaky Friday (1976), and Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo (1977).

Disney continued to keep Main employed after the company had launched the Disney Channel in 1977 by putting him to work in some popular shows. Main soon appeared as the jovial narrator on the full-body puppet series, "Welcome to Pooh Corner." Continuing in the eighties, Main was working steadily either on-screen or off as a voice actor. He only spoke one sentence, "But, Holmes, that music is so frightfully dull" in The Great Mouse Detective (1986) along with some more TV appearances such as "Punky Brewster" and "Murder, She Wrote."

Main performed in two more films in the nineties: Mom and Dad Save the World (1992) and Robin Hood Men in Tights (1993) and one voice acting role in "Winnie the Pooh, Seasons of Giving" before he bowed down from further screen appearances. On February 8th, 2012, Main died in Los Angeles, CA. He was 89.
