{ Cast & Crew: Shani Wallis }

Shani Wallis (April 14, 1933 – ) is an English actress born in Tottenham, England. Making her stage debut at the age of four, Wallis began training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) on a scholarship. By her early twenties, she appeared in several West End productions including "Call Me Madam," "Happy as a King," and "Wonderful Town." While many of them had a short run, she continued in theatre throughout the 50's and 60's before turning to the silver screen.

She made her film debut in 1956 with The Extra Day starring Richard Baseheart. It was not until 1968 when she would play Nancy from Lionel Bart's Oliver! with Ron Moody and Oliver Reed, a role she is best remembered. She later repeated the role on stage in Los Angeles. The film was a success and won a substantial amount of awards including Best Picture, paving the way for the young actress to appear in TV shows both in the U.S. and the U.K. Wallis appeared in lesser known films of the 70's such as Terror in the Wax Museum (1973) and Arnold of that same year, but her main love was the stage and she soon returned to star in such hits as "42nd Street" and "Follies." She also went on a world tour with Liberace for five years.

During the 80's and 90's, she did some voice acting and played roles in two animated features, the first appearing as the Lady Mouse in Disney's The Great Mouse Detective (1986), followed by the Narrator in The Pebble and the Penguin (1995) directed by Don Bluth. In recent times, Wallis plays the recurring role of Frances, a nanny-type on the TV series, "The Young and the Restless" before appearing in the 2006 drama, Mojave Phone Booth.

Wallis is a naturalized U.S. citizen where she has lived for many years. She has been married since 1965 to agent and former actor, Bernard Rich. They have one daughter, Rebecca, who is a costume designer, and two granddaughters. Wallis is also the sister to jazz drummer, Leon Roy. When she is not acting, Wallis spends time at home with her family.
